The granGABLE powered by Scheels is a mass-participation cycling event that combines all that is Hawkeye with good health, exercise, and a commitment to excellence. Nobody embodies this more than legendary athlete and coach, Dan Gable. Through an incredible partnership between Coach Gable, the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, and RAGBRAI (yes, the experts at RAGBRAI), the ride has emerged as a premier fondo in Iowa!
Ride with cyclists from all over the Hawkeye state and beyond on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Choose from the inaugural 55 mile Gable Gravel Grinder, 60 mile or challenge yourself by training like Gable and riding 100 miles! All gravel and century finishers will earn the exclusive and highly sought after granGABLE completion medal. Registration is now open and specific details on the route, jersey design and other 2017 merchandise will be announced in the upcoming months. So save the date and get to training so you can “pedal for the medal.”
Proceeds from the granGABLE fondo will benefit the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Learn more about them by viewing their respective pages on our website.
Go Hawks, Ride Right, and On IOWA!
Join us after the ride for our granGABLE Post Party! This year’s post party will be held at Big Grove Brewery – Iowa City. Cool down and relax with food, drinks, live music while hanging out with friends, family, and fellow finishers at this special event commemorating your accomplishment.
We’re looking for volunteers to make the fifth and final granGABLE a huge success! You can sign up for volunteer shifts here.
Thank you to our friends at United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties for their help coordinating or volunteer efforts each year.
